Job Description
Are you ready to lead innovation in subsea robotics and make a real impact across Europe and Africa? Based in Aberdeen with a hybrid work environment, this role places you at the forefront of cutting-edge offshore operations, supporting the readiness and deployment of advanced subsea robotic and drone systems. You’ll be the technical authority driving standardisation, innovation, and operational excellence—reporting directly into the Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) leadership team and collaborating with skilled engineers across disciplines like Mechanical, Nautical, and Electrical Engineering. Your expertise will shape high-complexity projects that push boundaries and support the company’s mission to deliver safe, efficient, and future-ready subsea solutions.
Your role and responsibilities:
Manage and develop a team of ROV project engineers, ensuring they operate with minimal daily oversight and have clear development plans in place.
Lead the introduction and implementation of at least one innovative subsea asset per year, aligning with strategic goals and enhancing operational performance.
Oversee the readiness and optimisation of the entire MAI ROV fleet, ensuring systems are maintained to high standards and aligned with industry best practices.
Provide technical and commercial support to project and client teams, assigning appropriate personnel and ensuring expert input throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure the ROV fleet is operationally available, coordinating with project management, QHSSE, and support teams, and managing maintenance and repair budgets.
Standardise documentation and processes across all subsea robotic systems in the EUAF region, ensuring consistency and quality.
Adhere to and manage the combined MAI operating budget for ROV systems, ensuring cost-effective asset management and operational planning.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role:
Extensive experience in subsea operations, particularly in inspection, construction, and the installation and operation of new equipment and designs.
Strong technical expertise in ROV systems, including maintenance schedules, mobilisation planning, and equipment upgrades.
Proven ability to create and manage technical documentation and procedures to a high standard
Excellent leadership and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and drive innovation across a fleet.
Willingness to travel internationally as required to support offshore operations and asset mobilisation (travel frequency dependent on project needs).
