Job Description
Design the Future of Geo-Data Experiences
At Fugro, innovation is how we unlock insights from the Earth. Within our flagship initiative VirGeo, we’re building a cloud-hosted ecosystem that empowers professionals to interact with complex Geo-data, monitor project progress, and make informed decisions in near real-time.
As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of design work across a VirGeo Data Exchange platform. You’ll craft beautiful, highly usable interfaces that simplify intricate workflows and elevate the impact of our digital solutions. This is a rare opportunity to create truly unique interfaces that disrupt traditional design and explore the full potential of modern UI design.
Your Role
Design, prototype, and deliver visually compelling and functional UI solutions for web and mobile platforms using Figma as your primary design tool.
Own feature areas end-to-end, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to define user flows, states, and visual specifications.
Lead discovery activities and synthesize user and domain research into actionable insights using continuous discovery and goal-directed design methods.
Conduct usability testing and iterate based on findings to ensure intuitive, accessible, and high-performing interfaces.
Contribute to and evolve our central design system and component libraries, advocating for consistency and scalability.
Create custom UI patterns for non-standard screen sizes, irregular aspect ratios, and specialized hardware environments.
Translate complex technical requirements and spatial data into elegant, intuitive UI patterns and interactions.
Facilitate workshops and collaborative design sessions using tools like Miro or FigJam.
Stay ahead of trends in geo-data visualization, spatial interfaces, and enterprise-grade B2B tools.
Build domain knowledge in remote sensing, maritime data, and Geo-intelligence to enhance design relevance.
Your Track Record
7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio of polished, user-centered product design in B2B or enterprise environments.
Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, and user interface design (including design systems and responsive behavior).
Strong data visualization skills and experience designing for data-heavy, workflow-driven applications.
Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, and prototyping tools like Framer or ProtoPie.
Experience designing unique hardware setups and adapting to embedded or irregular screen formats.
Familiarity with front-end frameworks and technologies (awareness level).
Strong grasp of accessibility standards, iterative design, and agile/Scrum methodologies.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale.
Highly self-driven and capable of working independently while staying aligned with broader product and design direction.
Bonus Points
Experience designing map-based services, spatial interfaces, or tools that interact with geo-data.
Familiarity with marine environments, offshore operations, or maritime workflows.
Background or interest in geosciences, surveying, or remote sensing.
Knowledge of human(ity)-centered design, service design, or systems thinking.
Exposure to product operating models (e.g., Marty Cagan) or continuous delivery practices.
