Job Description

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining a geo-database for various regions and projects. They will also assist in transforming the existing Fugro proprietary Gulf of Mexico database from its current AutoCAD Map platform to an ESRI ArcGIS Pro platform. The Analyst will lead projects using GIS software, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), and Python to convert, map, analyze and display geo-data from different sources. The job also includes performing quality control and assurance checks on spatial data for delivery to the company and clients, process improvement by recommending changes to existing workflows and communicating needs to software developers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

  • Uses ESRI ArcPro to develop, prepare, and maintain GIS data.

  • Locate Data essential to specific regions from various Fugro and external sources and create a geo-database and workflows.

  • Assist in integrating existing Fugro’s proprietary GIS data into an ESRI’s compatible databases and workflows.

  • Creates and runs python/FME scripts to produce, analyze, and display data per internal and external client requirements.

  • Processes relevant geo-data (including error analyses and corrections) for internal and external use.

  • Performs quality control/assurance checks on collected data (including error analyses and corrections).

  • Recognizes opportunities for and proactively implements or recommends process improvement such as changes to existing workflows and communicating needs to software developers (if applicable).

  • Assists in the production of final reports for clients.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

  • Associate degree in GIS or related field and one to three years of experience in GIS database administration.

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS/Geology or related field.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and ArcGIS Pro.

  • Skilled in Python scripting
