Environmental, social, and governance ratings

At Fugro, we engage with several environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating agencies. These regularly assess our policies performance when it comes to ESG.
We also take what we learn from them to improve our transparency. And improve our ESG scores as we move forward.
Rated A by Morgan Stanley Capital International
Morgan Stanley Capital International is an ESG research company. Their research is designed to help investors identify ESG risks and opportunities within their portfolio. Morgan Stanley researches and rates companies from CCC to AAA. Grades are based on a company’s exposure to industry-specific ESG risks. And how well they manage these risks compared to their peers. We’re currently rated A.
In January of 2022, we were re-classified within the construction and engineering industry. That’s because we expanded beyond offshore oil and gas services into energy and infrastructure.
Our focus on geological services presents opportunities to design resilient structures. Which is very important, considering the global energy transition and rising sea levels. Expanding into energy and infrastructure also means an extra emphasis on talent management. That’s because we’re increasingly relying on specialised engineering skills. We also continue to lead our peers on governance structures – across the world.

Sustainalytics score of 23.7
In August 2021, Sustainalytics, a Morningstar company, gave us an ESG Risk Rating of 23.7 on a scale of 40 (minimum) to 0 (maximum). We’re number 11 out of the 278 companies that Sustainalytics assesses in the construction and engineering industry.

V.E score of 48
In 2021, V.E gave us a score of 48 on a scale of 0 (minimum) to 100 (maximum) as part of the oil equipment and services sector. That classification doesn’t really fit, so we’re working with V.E to assess our performance within a more apt sector. Learn more?
V.E has been part of the Moody Corporation’s ESG Solutions since 2019. ESG Solutions is a business unit serving the growing global demand for ESG and climate insights. V.E’s offering includes ESG scores, climate data, sustainability ratings, and sustainable finance certifier services.

Rated B by CDP

We’ve been participating in the CDP Climate Change disclosure since the reporting year of 2018. This involves submitting environmental performance data related to climate change. What is CDP? They’re a non-profit organisation running the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions.

Ranked 57th by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy

In 2021, we scored 64 out of 100 points, ranking 57 out of 235 companies. That means we’ve improved! In 2019, we scored 56 points and ended up in 62nd place
