Job Description

Senior Technician

As a Senior Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Aberdeen workshop operations. You’ll work hands‑on with electrical and electronic equipment, carrying out assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing activities to a high standard. Your work will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem‑solving, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in delivering quality technical work.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Carry out hands‑on engineering, assembly, maintenance, and testing of electrical/electronic equipment within the Aberdeen workshop

  • Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment as required

  • Operate test equipment to ensure assets meet required standards

  • Work closely with a small team of engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to complete tasks on time and within budget

  • Apply a disciplined and systematic approach to prioritising, scheduling, and completing tasks

  • Deliver work to the expected quality, within agreed timelines and budget

  • Maintain accurate assembly, maintenance, and test records to support traceability

  • Manage stock levels and ensure accurate inventory control

  • Maintain tools and equipment, arranging repairs or replacements when needed

  • Identify and communicate any workshop capacity shortfalls

  • Suggest improvements to methods, processes, and equipment

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders across multiple projects and timelines

  • Adhere to Fugro’s Health & Safety and quality management system requirements at all times

  • Support good practice within the workshop and share knowledge with colleagues

  • Occasionally support on‑site activities when required

What you’ll need to thrive in this role

  • HND or equivalent qualification in engineering

  • Experience in soldering, crimping, electrical panel and cabinet wiring

  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and general arrangement schematics

  • Experience assembling, manufacturing, and testing electrical/electronic equipment

  • Confident using oscilloscopes, PSUs, voltmeters, and other test equipment

  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes

  • Competence using a range of computer software
