Are you ready to lead a team that’s pushing the boundaries of geotechnical testing? At Fugro, we’re passionate about delivering data-driven insights that shape the world’s infrastructure. As Team Leader – Advanced Triaxial, you’ll be at the heart of our laboratory operations in Wallingford, overseeing advanced testing that supports major engineering and environmental projects. You’ll report to the Laboratory Operations Manager and work closely with a diverse, collaborative team of technicians, engineers, and quality specialists.
This is a hands-on leadership role where your expertise in Advanced Triaxial testing will drive quality, innovation, and efficiency. If you’re confident in your technical skills and thrive in a friendly, fast-paced laboratory environment, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the Advanced Triaxial team, delivering high-quality tests such as cyclic triaxial and resonant column.
Perform advanced triaxial tests independently and provide hands‑on support to the team when needed, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
Champion a strong QHSSE culture, promoting safety and continuous improvement across all laboratory activities.
Collaborate with other laboratory teams to optimise resource sharing and ensure efficient sample flow and testing schedules.
Train and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, and ensure competency through internal audits.
Monitor testing progress and proactively resolve any issues affecting timelines or quality.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results to the data processing team, maintaining high standards of compliance and QA/QC.
What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role
A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of experience in a soil testing laboratory, with strong knowledge of Advanced Triaxial methods.
Proven experience managing small to medium-sized teams in a technical setting.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Excel and laboratory testing software, with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
