Job Description

The Technical Manager Uncrewed Systems will create, manage, and continually improve systems and the organisation to successful operational integration, execution, and maintenance of the technical USV solutions. The role will help shape the Uncrewed Solutions strategy and operations through in-depth knowledge of the technology and operations.

The Technical Manager for Uncrewed Systems role is responsible for the following primary authorities 1) Authority to make technical decisions related to USV systems operations, maintenance, and integration and 2) Initiate, approve or reject changes to USV systems, equipment, configurations, and procedures.

Furthermore, the Technical Manager role will contribute to multiple related projects creating operational and technical benefits and change in the form of operational and technological improvement, such as increased revenue, decreased costs, competitive position, employee engagement and improved customer satisfaction. The Technical Manager oversees the entire technology process and offers strategic guidance to Project Managers and USV teams on-site while ensuring proper communication between interdependent teams in the company.

The primary impact of a Technical Manager’s function in the Uncrewed Solutions group is to ensure the successful delivery of technical USV solutions by effectively managing and coordinating resources, processes, and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

  • Develops and maintains technical strategies for USV systems, including autonomous navigation, control systems, and payload integration.

  • Collaborates with project teams to identify, assess, and integrate USV system solutions.

  • Stays informed of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in USV systems technologies.

  • Ensure support for efficient and effective implementation of innovative products/technologies/systems with regards to the USV

  • Ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of USV systems equipment.

  • Provides technical support and guidance to ROC Superintendent, Site Manager, USV Chief Operator and other team members.

  • Coordinates with Technical Manager - Remote Systems to ensure seamless integration of USV operations with remote systems.

  • Develops and delivers training programs to improve team members' technical competencies and skills.

  • Actively focused on achieving results with a passion for success.

  • Ability to work well alongside peers, colleagues and partners to positively impact business performance

  • Ability to persuade and negotiate

  • Drives organisational and cultural change to facilitate organisational development

  • Deals with ambiguity. Making positive use of the opportunities it presents

  • Feedback operational learnings to R&D and Engineering teams to work together towards continuously improve uncrewed technology.

  • Supporting internal and external clients to see the value, understand the benefits and adopt the Uncrewed Solutions.

  • Attune and confidently act to their needs, adding value and building strong relationships

  • With the region, establish across business line & cross-regional support towards operational excellence to stimulate revenue stream to achieve EBIT target based upon uncrewed activities (i.e. USV operations).

  • With the region, established a fully audible Uncrewed systems management system for the USV documentation (i.e. integration, operations & maintenance).

  • With the region, maintained an OPEX with less than 15% operational leakage for 95% USV UPTime.

Job Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

  • Possess a valid passport or the ability to obtain for international travel requirements.

  • Posses a Bachelor in Sciences required, highly preferred in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering or Naval Engineering.

  • Have 5 years or more experience in offshore or technical support role. ROV, Marine systems or survey systems highly preferred.

  • Readiness to lead and inspire teams.

  • Management experience is beneficial, not required.

  • Travel up to 20% for this role is required.
