Job Description

Team Leader – Standard Laboratory – Fugro, Belgium

Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for geotechnical science? Are you ready to guide a technical team and ensure the highest quality in laboratory testing? Fugro is looking for a Team Leader for our Standard Laboratory to join our team in Belgium. In this key role, you will have a direct impact on the quality of our data and contribute to important energy and infrastructure projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

This role is about leading our Standard Laboratory team, ensuring precision, quality, and efficiency in our geotechnical testing. You will be:

  • Leading Daily Operations: You’ll be in charge of the day-to-day activities of the Standard Laboratory, ensuring that your team collects, tests, and analyzes geotechnical data efficiently, on time, and within budget.

  • Guiding and Developing Your Team: You'll actively manage, lead, and support your team of laboratory personnel. Helping them develop their skills through coaching and training is a big part of the job.

  • Upholding Quality and Standards: You will be the technical reference for your team, making sure all work meets our high quality and safety standards. A key part of this is ensuring compliance with procedures like ISO 17892, BS1377, and contributing to our ISO 17025 quality system.

  • Managing Laboratory Resources: You'll ensure your team has everything it needs to succeed, from planning the maintenance and calibration of equipment to managing the availability of materials.

  • Driving Continuous Improvement: You will take ownership of the lab's evolution, actively participating in technical discussions and looking for ways to improve our processes and capabilities.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical lab knowledge with natural leadership skills.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent through experience.

  • Leadership Experience: Experience in leading teams (0-3 years). We welcome applications from talented individuals who are early in their leadership journey!

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of geotechnical laboratory testing. Knowledge of technical standards (ISO 17892, BS1377) is essential, and experience with quality processes like ISO 17025 is a strong asset.

  • Languages: Proficiency in both English and French is required.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, an organized and proactive mindset, and competence with standard office tools like Excel and email.

What We Offer:

At Fugro, we invest in our people and create a workplace where you can thrive. Here’s what you can expect:

  • An attractive salary and benefits package that reflects your qualifications and expertise.

  • A collaborative, supportive, and family-like work environment.

  • Numerous opportunities for training and career development, both in Belgium and internationally.

  • A focus on work-life balance and employee wellbeing.

  • A fixed annual salary reevaluation.

Interested?

If you are a motivated leader with a passion for geotechnics and are ready to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you. This is your chance to lead a dedicated team and make a significant contribution at Fugro.
