Fugro is on the lookout for a talented, highly skilled, and motivated Staff Laboratory Engineer to join our growing Advanced Geotechnical Testing team in Belgium. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in high-level geotechnical laboratory testing within a leading global geo-intelligence company. The Fugro office in Belgium offers specialized consultancy and engineering services worldwide in both the marine and land environments for projects in the energy and infrastructure markets.

Roles and Responsibilities
As a Staff Laboratory Engineer at Fugro, you will:
Execute Advanced Geotechnical Tests: Perform a range of sophisticated tests such as simple shear, stress path, cyclic, and dynamic tests with high precision, utilizing computer-controlled programs and adhering to strict deadlines.
Process and Review Data: Carry out meticulous data recording (manually and digitally) and perform initial data processing for tests you conduct, contributing to the review of results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Ensure Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to manage workload efficiently and provide support in other testing capacities as required, including more basic testing.
Drive Innovation: Actively participate in the development of new methods and practices to enhance the quality and efficiency of our advanced testing processes.
Participate in Field Investigations: Take part in offshore investigations, which involves logging, extruding, and describing offshore soil samples.
Uphold Quality Standards: Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to meet UKAS/Belac accreditation standards, ensuring all tests are compliant.
Champion QHSSE: Promote and maintain the highest standards of Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE) among all staff.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate technical excellence and thrive in a detail-oriented laboratory environment. Key requirements include:
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant mathematical or scientific discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Professional Experience: A proven track record in a geotechnical laboratory environment, with direct experience in advanced testing being highly desirable.
Language Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal skills in English and French. Proficiency in Dutch is considered a strong asset.
Technical & IT Proficiency: Demonstrate strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel. A meticulous eye for detail and a rigorous approach to following procedures are essential.
Interpersonal Skills: An open and respectful attitude with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within a team.
