Sami Raines, Astronaut candidate
You cannot just aim to be an astronaut. To be considered, you have to be exceptionally good at something first. You need to consistently excel in a demanding, competitive career on Earth before confidently pursuing a second, highly challenging one in space. This means demonstrating resilience, discipline, and the ability to perform under pressure over many years.
One candidate’s journey began as a child looking up at the stars in a small town in rural Australia. A love of computer games then led to a career in cutting-edge, highly innovative aerospace engineering research and development, where complex problem-solving and creativity became essential daily skills.
Now, having successfully completed a rigorous second round of astronaut training, the lifelong dream is close to finally becoming reality, supported by years of dedication, continuous learning, and an unwavering commitment to pushing personal and professional boundaries.
