Looking for a summer placement where you can build real-world experience, develop valuable skills, and contribute to projects that make a difference? At Fugro, our Geotechnical Admin Assistants are a vital part of the team, supporting engineers working on ground investigations that underpin safe infrastructure, renewable energy and sustainable development. Based in our Wallingford office, you’ll work closely with geotechnical engineers and reporting teams, gaining insight into how data, organisation and collaboration drive successful projects. Reporting to a Principal Engineer, this is a friendly, supportive, on‑site role where your contribution truly matters, and no two days are the same.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Geotechnical Admin Assistant on our Summer Placement programme, you’ll support the smooth running of projects by keeping information organised, accurate and accessible. Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality administrative support to geotechnical engineers and reporting teams within the Land business
Accurately entering, tracking and managing project data to ensure information is always up to date
Assisting with the preparation, compilation and formatting of technical reports and documentation
Acting as a central coordination point for project data, helping teams meet delivery deadlines
Liaising confidently with engineers, site staff and internal teams to support project progress
Supporting the maintenance and deployment of engineering equipment (such as tablets, laptops and cameras) in collaboration with the operations team
What you’ll need to thrive in this role
We’re looking for someone who is curious, organised and keen to learn. You don’t need prior industry experience, we’ll support you every step of the way. The essentials you’ll need are:
Strong written and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail
Confidence using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
Accurate data entry skills and a methodical approach to tasks
Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
A positive, adaptable mindset and the ability to prioritise tasks in a changing environment
English proficiency is required for this role.
