Job Description
At Fugro, a Dutch multinational headquartered in Nootdorp, we are offering an opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Risk Management Lead to play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s risk capabilities. In this role, you further enhance the risk function and actively contribute to building a strong risk culture, with direct impact on the risk‑management framework and related processes.
You combine strong subject‑matter expertise with a practical, hands‑on mindset. You engage directly with the business and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation. You view risk management not merely as a defensive discipline, but as a strategic contributor to performance, resilience, and stakeholder protection. This requires someone who collaborates broadly, facilitates decision‑making, and naturally champions a mature risk culture.
This senior position provides substantial exposure to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Management. With no Chief Risk Officer above you, you are the driving force behind the further development of the risk function. You report directly to the Director of Internal Audit and work closely with senior management.
The role includes occasional travel—typically two to three trips per year, each lasting up to one week.
Your role
You support the embedding (and maintenance) of Fugro’s overall risk management framework within the organisation. This includes governance, taxonomy, risk identification and monitoring activities, etc.;
You are responsible for Fugro’s overall risk management framework in close cooperation with the sustainability function;
You ensure that Fugro’s risk management standards and policies are up to date and support implementation within the regions and at the corporate level;
You support reporting to the Supervisory Board (via the Audit Committee), Board of Management, and other key stakeholders by providing insight into risk exposures (including risk heatmaps) and performance against set risk appetite, which will facilitate decision-making at the relevant level;
You participate in and facilitate risk workshops at various levels within the organisation.
Your track record
You possess a master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Engineering, or a related field, supported by relevant certifications such as CRMA, CIA or CISA;
You have at least 6+ years of experience in enterprise risk management or related governance functions, with a proven track record in multinational organisations, ideally operating within matrix structures;
You demonstrate the interpersonal courage and strategic influence needed to challenge senior leaders constructively while maintaining trust, and you connect risk insights directly to strategic decision‑making;
You have strong enterprise risk management capabilities, including governance, taxonomy, risk appetite, risk registers, heatmaps, data‑driven reporting, and the facilitation of workshops, scenario analyses, and risk identification sessions;
You have strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
What Fugro offers
Based on your relevant experience, the salary ranges from €6.100 to €8.480. This amount is part of our salary range, with opportunities for growth within the role;
29 holidays per year based on a fulltime employment (of which 4 are appointed by Fugro management) and the possibility to purchase 12 additional days;
