Job Description

Are you passionate about maritime technology and motivated by the challenge of optimizing vessel performance? We’re looking for a Fleet Technical Superintendent to join our team in Nootdorp, the Netherlands.

You ensure that technical specifications for major maintenance and repair activities are always up to date, enabling rapid preparation of tender documents and timely submission ahead of planned works. You execute maintenance and repair projects within approved scope, budget, and timelines, fully aligned with technical standards. Ranging from Geophysical Research Vessels (DP0/DP1) to Geotechnical Drilling Research Vessels (DP2), you work with complex ship systems, automation, and hydraulics. In this role, you will liaise with the Vessel Management Team, both onshore and offshore, contributing to technical decision-making and performance reviews.

Fugro’s vessels are vital to offshore operations, conducting geophysical surveys with sonar and sensors to map the seafloor, and performing geotechnical investigations by collecting and analysing soil samples. This work delivers essential data for the safe and efficient development of offshore wind farms, pipelines, and other marine infrastructure.

This role is primarily office-based and requires regular presence at our office. While your main base will be onshore, the position involves regular travel, up to 50% of your time. You will visit your assigned vessels and shipyards across Europe and globally.

Your Role

  • Ensure prudent maintenance and reliability of assigned vessels through proactive planning, risk‑based decision‑making, and continuous performance monitoring;

  • Lead the full preparation, planning, and execution of major docking projects, including special surveys and vessel modifications;

  • Provide technical input for project rationales and scope definitions;

  • Prepare and manage shipyard tender documentation, cost estimates, and project budgets;

  • Act as on‑site Project Manager during execution, ensuring progress control and accurate project reporting;

  • Prepare upcoming maintenance and repair periods in close collaboration with the Vessel Manager;

  • Provide advisory support to the Vessel Manager on capital expenditure planning;

  • Prepare dry‑docking work specifications for special and renewal surveys in line with class and Fugro requirements.

Your track record

  • You hold a background in Marine Engineering, with a solid foundation in maritime operations. You possess broad technical knowledge of marine systems and equipment;

  • You bring at least 5 years of relevant experience in a technically focused role, including vessel maintenance (preferably in the offshore industry), dry docking, or shipyard project management;

  • You have a strong understanding of marine HSE legislation and compliance requirements;

  • You demonstrate effective project management and reporting skills, with a structured and proactive approach;

  • You possess strong communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and spoken.

What Fugro offers

  • Based on your relevant experience, the salary ranges from €6.100 to €7.500. This amount is part of our salary range, with opportunities for growth within the role;

  • 29 holidays per year based on a fulltime employment (of which 4 are appointed by Fugro management) and the possibility to purchase 12 additional days;

  • Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally;

  • Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies;

  • Commuting allowance;

  • Modern pension scheme;

  • Collective health insurance;

  • Possibility to register with our corporate fitness plan;

  • Coaching options through our EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
