The Role
As Operations Manager – Drilling, you will assume full responsibility for Fugro Belgium’s onshore drilling operations within the geotechnical site investigation business.
Your mission: define and implement a strategic vision that aligns the drilling service line with Fugro’s broader objectives.
You will collaborate closely with Fugro’s European Site Investigation teams to ensure operational coherence and strategic alignment. This role combines leadership, operational management, and continuous improvement, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of our drilling activities in Belgium.
Key Responsibilities
Drilling Operations Planning: Lead planning and coordination of drilling activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation and project delivery.
Team Management: Recruit, train, evaluate, and inspire field teams to foster a high-performance culture.
Equipment & Technology: Identify and implement innovative drilling technologies and equipment to enhance efficiency.
Safety & Compliance: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with regulations.
Cost Management: Oversee budgeting and cost control to maintain profitability.
Site Assessment: Conduct evaluations of drilling sites considering geological, geotechnical, and environmental factors.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records for accountability and compliance.
R&D: Stay abreast of industry advancements and integrate best practices.
Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction.
Who We’re Looking For
A proven leader with a strategic mindset and strong operational background in geotechnical site investigations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in drilling operations and management.
Strong knowledge of drilling equipment and technologies.
At least 5 years in team leadership roles.
Commitment to safety and compliance.
Excellent problem-solving and crisis management skills.
Strong communication and client relationship-building abilities.
Continuous learning mindset and openness to innovation.
Languages
French: Mandatory
