Job Description

Fugro is at the forefront of maritime innovation, and our USV technology is transforming how offshore operations are conducted. These vessels are used for subsea inspections, seafloor mapping, and environmental monitoring—reducing operational costs, human risks, and CO₂ emissions.
We are looking for a Product Owner to lead the development of our USV navigation and control platform—a sophisticated software solution enabling autonomous and remote-controlled maritime operations. Your role is pivotal in shaping the future of maritime autonomy by bridging the gap between stakeholders, development teams, and end-users.

Your role

• Own and manage the product backlog for Fugro’s USV navigation and control platform.

• Translate business and operational needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Prioritise features and improvements based on business value, safety, and technical feasibility.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary development teams (C#.NET engineers, robotics specialists, QA/simulation engineers) to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and align product vision with customer needs.

• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.

• Support budget planning, release cycles, sprint reviews, and product demos.

• Ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and regulatory frameworks.

• Champion usability, reliability, and performance—acting as the voice of the customer.

Your track record

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a software development environment.

• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and backlog management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to balance technical constraints with business priorities.

• Experience with safety-critical systems or regulated environments (e.g., maritime, aerospace, robotics, industrial automation).

• Analytical mindset with a focus on delivering value and continuous improvement.

Bonus Points

• Knowledge of maritime navigation systems or autonomous vessel technologies.

• Experience working with full-stack development teams (C#.NET, Angular/React).

• Understanding of real-time control systems and sensor integration.
