Your role

As a patent attorney for Fugro, you will play a crucial role in partnering with our R&D and innovation teams. Your responsibilities will include:

• Invention scouting: Collaborate with R&D to identify and protect new inventions.

• Patent applications: Draft and prosecute patent applications in the marine and land portfolios,coveringboth engineering and software-related topics.

• IP Support: Assist, support and advise on patent and other IP-related matters including  risk assessments and IP strategies.

• Stakeholder management: Conduct IP awareness sessions, provide IP education and present complex patent situations in a simplified manner.

• Communication: Engage with various levels of the organization and across a wide range of functions and regions.

• Work Environment: Proactive and customer-focused, you will work independently as well as in teams. Offices are located in Nootdorp but hybrid working is also possible.

What you bring along

• Educational background: You hold a degree in a relevant discipline.

• Certification: You are a certified patent attorney and have either: passed the EQE (candidates of the EQE2025 will be considered), or passed a national patent attorney education( e.g. (UK) CPA, Dutch patent attorney, US patent agent). Combination of 1) and 2) is an advantage.

• Additional Knowledge: Experience with copyright and/or copyleft is an advantage

• Technical Expertise: Proficient in drafting and prosecuting EP patent applications in software engineering and software-related topics;

• Language Skills: Strong command of the English language;

• Experience: At least 3 years of experience as an in-house patent attorney or in private practice is desired.
