As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a robust, scalable, and secure data platform on AWS. You will help shape VirGeo® Foundations by combining modern DevOps practices with deep AWS knowledge, ensuring we deliver high-availability services and seamless integrations across the VirGeo® ecosystem.

Your Role

• Architect, build, and operate cloud-native services and data platforms on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.

• Apply AWS SaaS best practices to build scalable, multi-tenant cloud-native services.

• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation).

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies.

• Ensure observability and reliability by setting up monitoring, logging, and tracing (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray, Prometheus).

• Apply modern identity & access management principles (AWS IAM, AWS Verified Permissions, SSO/Entra ID/Okta).

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to design cloud services that integrate seamlessly with applications and data workflows.

• Optimize cost efficiency and performance through resource monitoring and autoscaling strategies.

• Stay current with AWS innovations and recommend improvements to architecture and practices.

• Mentor team members and promote SRE/DevOps culture and best practices.

Your Track Record

• 8+ years of professional experience in software or platform engineering, with at least 5 years focused on cloud platforms (preferably AWS).

• Proven experience designing and operating scalable, data-intensive platforms in AWS.

• Strong proficiency with core AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, CloudFront).

• Deep understanding of SaaS architecture, including tenant isolation, billing, and lifecycle management.

• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Fargate).

• Solid knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).

• Infrastructure as code experience (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation).

• Experience implementing security best practices in cloud environments (encryption, IAM roles, network security, auditing).

• Familiarity with data streaming, storage, and integration (Kinesis, Kafka, Glue, Athena).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.

Bonus Points

• Experience with geo-data platforms or spatial data workflows.

• Knowledge of multi-tenant SaaS architecture and data residency requirements.

• Exposure to implementing observability patterns.

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices.

• Passion for geosciences, data analytics, or environmental applications.

• Contributions to open-source infrastructure tooling or cloud-native projects.
