Job Description

With a new Procurement and Supply Chain (P&SC) organization in place, Fugro is on an exciting journey to accelerate growth and value creation. The Purchasing function has a key role to play in this context by delivering the most competitive cost base by building a strong Purchasing organization.  We are looking for a Purchaser, reporting directly to the US Purchasing Manager to support the Purchasing Manager as required in all Purchasing activities as the role dictates, on occasions, the Purchaser may also be asked to carry out activities in relation to new systems or processes that come along as dictated by Local or Global strategies.

The Purchaser will be responsible for, but not limited to, purchasing goods and services for Fugro. Critical to success in this role is bringing the relevant professional, expert knowledge, and experience to create value for Fugro by assisting in the implementation of best-in-class Purchasing to help Fugro control third-party expenditures, reduce bottom-line costs, and improve cash flow.

Given Fugro's initiative to establish a centralized procurement team, this role will also involve significant change management responsibilities. The Purchaser will play a key role in driving and managing the transition to centralized procurement, ensuring smooth integration and adoption of new processes and systems across the organization. This will require a proactive approach to change management, including effective communication, training, and support for business stakeholders. This role will need a collaborative, communicative, and engaging approach with the business stakeholders in Fugro to ensure alignment and buy-in for procurement strategies and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

  • Actively engage with the business and develop key relationships with suppliers and business stakeholders.

  • Obtain quotes and negotiate the best cost, delivery & quality for any goods or services dictated by the role.

  • Use ERP system to receive internal requisitions and send purchase orders to suppliers.

  • Contribute to department and global OKRs for spend under control and cost savings.

  • Work with Sourcing Specialist and Global Category Management Team to execute overall strategy.

  • Execute on time delivery with suppliers of goods or services.

  • Administration tasks as dictated by the role or department.

  • Abide by processes and procedures for purchasing dictated locally or Globally.

  • Identify cost reduction opportunities, preferential pricing, payment terms, and partnerships to bring more value to the business.

Job Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

  • Have 3 Years or more as a Purchaser / Buyer required. Preferably in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) style company.

  • Possess a high school diploma required, a 4-year degree preferred.

  • Experience with change management is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills to nurture strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

  • Must be proficient using ERP software as well as common Microsoft Office Tools (i.e. Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc).

  • Some basic QHSSE, legal and compliance knowledge is desirable.

  • Some Financial acumen is desirable.

  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
