Fugro is seeking a bright, highly skilled, and motivated Deputy Team Leader for our Geotechnical Core Logging team with a strong passion for geotechnics and a creative mindset to join our growing team in Belgium. The Fugro office in Belgium offers specialized consultancy and engineering services worldwide in both the marine and land environments for projects in the energy and infrastructure markets.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Deputy Team Leader – Geotechnical Core Logging at Fugro, you will:

  • Supervise and Coordinate: Assist in managing the core logging areas in the geotechnical laboratory, including the day-to-day supervision of all staff.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for core logging equipment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and perform core logging and associated testing to the highest levels of safety and testing standards, optimizing the output/efficiency of the resources allocated.

  • Quality and Safety Compliance: Ensure the highest levels of safety, logging, and testing standards in accordance with company procedures, health, safety, and quality policies.

  • Resource Management: Train staff in safe and reliable logging methods and ensure all equipment in the core logging laboratory is working, calibrated, and fit-for-purpose.

  • Continuous Improvement: Assist the team leader with the development of the core logging area and actively participate in the continuous improvement process of the practices.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate technical excellence and thrive in a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment. Key requirements include:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience or equivalent experience.

  • Technical Insight: Knowledge of technical standards for relevant tests and laboratory equipment maintenance, operation, and calibration.

  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in English.

  • Management Experience: Experience in leading medium to large teams is an asset.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Good verbal communication skills with staff at all levels, good organizational skills, and good team working skills.

  • IT Skills: Competent in the use of Excel and emails.
