Job Description

Are you passionate about optimizing vessel performance? We're looking for a Docking Superintendent to join our technical team in Leidschendam, the Netherlands. Join us and act as a maritime technical consultant for our fleet Globally.

You'll collaborate closely with the Technical department & Vessel Teams to ensure meticulous preparation of vessel specifications, ensuring clarity on required engineering and material for tender documents. Responsibilities extend to preparing specifications for Dry Docking projects, adhering to global standards for maintenance and repairs, and coordinating with diverse teams for tendering. You'll oversee the establishment of clear acceptance criteria for completed jobs and ensure any necessary documentation updates are made. Providing technical guidance to both onshore and offshore vessel management teams and contributing to performance evaluations are key facets of your role. Your focus remains on enhancing the reliability of our fleet, encompassing Geophysical Research Vessels (typically DP0 or DP1 classed), Geotechnical Drilling Research vessels (DP2 classed), and DP2-classed Inspection vessels. As needed, you'll conduct onboard assessments, define detailed specifications, and assess the technical capabilities of shipyards alongside yard vetting officers.

Travelling is part of the role, since the assigned vessels are located globally. You are available for frequent planned and unplanned travel around the world if required (a total of 3 / 4 months a year).

Your role

  • You ensure common activities for major maintenance and repair periods are systematically documented and accessible;

  • You review the quality of maintenance and repair templates through project reviews and dry docking evaluation reports;

  • You continuously prepare maintenance and repair periods;

  • You collaborate with vessel teams the planned reviews, repair work scopes, and contribute to necessary modifications;

  • You prepare drydocking work orders for special/renewal surveys in alignment with Fugro's maintenance strategy and class requirements.

Your track record

  • You have a background as Marine Engineer, Automation Engineer or Mechanical Engineer;

  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role with relevant experience;

  • You have sound knowledge of Marine HSE legislation;

  • You have excellent technical knowledge (Marine mechanical, structural, electrical) and project management and reporting skills;

  • You are in the possession of good communications skills and are fluent in English both written and spoken.
