Join Our Innovative Geo-Data Intelligence (GDI) Team at Fugro

Leveraging advanced analytics and AI, our team provides seamless and convenient services, overcoming internal bottlenecks and offering early insights into Geo-data with state-of-the-art visualization tools.

As a Geo-data Consultant, you will be a domain expert in the fields of geotechnics, geology, geophysics, metocean, maritime, and more. You will play a crucial role within our team of Geo-experts, driving the creation of digital features from inception. Collaborating closely with clients and business consultants, you will identify and address Geo-data challenges, crafting innovative solutions that make a difference.

Your expertise will be vital in designing and developing the backend applications of GDI’s digital products. Working alongside a talented product team of software developers and data scientists, you will be the linchpin, ensuring the integrity and applicability of Geo-data models, engineering models, predictive models, and UI/UX interfaces. Your insights and guidance will be invaluable in validating and shaping the future of Geo-data applications, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed client expectations and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Product development and innovation

    • Utilize a design thinking approach for iterative digital product development, incorporating client feedback.

    • Develop and ideate new digital services and applications in geotechnical engineering and beyond.

    • Collaborate with the product team to build a comprehensive geotechnical database.

  • Client engagement and development

    • Actively participate in client meetings, workshops and interviews.

    • Contribute to the preparation of client proposals for the development and deployment of geotechnical applications.

  • Project management and communication

    • Provide development timelines for B2C-targeted products and work in collaboration with other Geodata Consultants in Geotechnics.

    • Communicate resource needs and timelines to the GDI director for both routine tasks and project-related activities.

  • Collaboration and technical leadership

    • Work closely with software developers for backend and frontend integration of digital applications.

    • Lead the technical validation process of digital geotechnical applications.

    • Lead research and development geotechnical applications in collaboration with data scientists.

  • Knowledge sharing and networking

    • Attend and publish key fundamental findings at geotechnical conferences.

    • Contribute to patent preparations with Fugro’s IP team.

    • Engage with Fugro’s Global Innovation team for knowledge exchange.

Job requirements

  • MSc or equivalent in geotechnical engineering.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as geotechnical engineer.

  • Experienced with both Marine and Land geotechnical engineering works;

  • Experienced with both onshore and offshore engineering standards and guidelines;

  • Very experienced in programming (min. 5 years) using Python, C, VBA, etc. and developing geotechnical engineering calculation applications;

  • Experienced working with large geotechnical and geological datasets;

  • Experience working with geologists and geophysicist to build 3D ground models;

  • Experience working in carbonated soils and rocks;

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to self-check, check/review work for others and produce high quality, accurate work.

  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
