Job Description

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Regional Head of Legal APAC, the Legal Counsel would provide accurate and timely counsel to senior management and business development in the Asia Pacific region including but not limited to providing guidance on all material legal and compliance matters relating to Fugro’s business in the APAC region.

About the role:

  • Work with the Head of Legal to develop the team and to provide sound legal strategies on focus areas,

  • Provide robust legal and commercial support to business development and tendering teams in the region (pre-qualification, tender review and negotiation support),

  • Provide sound advice and directions on compliance related matters (including export control, trade sanctions, data privacy matters, corrupt practices and related matter),

  • Provide contract support to Project leaders in the APAC Region (contract/vessel charters review and commercial claim drafting and support),

  • Provide advice on debt collection, pre-litigation disputes and litigation,

  • Provide support in relation to corporate housekeeping in the Region in conjunction with Country Managers,

  • Provide legal and compliance training in the region,

  • Liaise with external law firm as required, Implementation of the Group Legal Procedures, and Assist in insurance matters in the Region.

Principal Working Relationship

a) Report directly to Regional Head of Legal APAC based in Singapore,

b) Work with Regional Directors and Country Managers for efficient resolution of legal and contractual issues,

c) Work with Regional Financial Controller team on financial and administrative control (as applicable). and

d) Work with Project execution teams on contract and claim support.

About you:

  • Qualifications required: Degree in Law or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.

  • Robust experience in handling compliance and trade sanctions matters.

  • Experience in both offshore marine and land construction sectors will be an advantage.

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin, with strong drafting skills.
