Fugro in Belgium offer specialized consultancy and engineering services in both land and marine environments. We are currently seeking a bright, highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist. The successful candidate will join our marine division and will be involved in a variety of projects in the oil and gas and offshore renewable energy sectors.
Job Summary
As a Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist you assist Senior Geotechnical Engineers with work on site characterisation and foundation engineering for structures in or on the seabed e.g. offshore wind turbine generators, intercontinental infrastructure and offshore platforms. The role involves participation to geotechnical site investigations offshore combined with in-office reporting and engineering analyses.
The key roles and responsibilities associated with this position include:
You manage the work around the process of acquiring, analysing and interpreting geotechnical data in order to provide accurate and customised services to our clients
You provide geotechnical advice by putting acquired geotechnical data into context under the supervision of senior staff
Together with a team of geotechnical engineers you go offshore and acquire data, perform laboratory tests, collect and process soil and/or rock samples
You evaluate the test results, perform engineering analyses and compile all results into a high-quality report for our clients.
You observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures
Key Skills
Applicants will have demonstrable excellent technical, organizational and communication skills, with a desire to continually learn and develop. The key requirements are:
You have knowledge of and interest in soil investigation, soil mechanics and foundation engineering
You have excellent communication and language skills in English (written and spoken)
You have a hands-on mentality, you are pro-active, analytical and you easily interact with other people internally and externally
You are an EU member or in the possession of an EU work permit
Excellent written and verbal skills in English
You are willing to travel regularly abroad
A first experience in geotechnical engineering within the Oil & Gas and/or Offshore Renewable industries would be considered as a plus
Education
You have a BSc or MSc degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geology, preferably in combination with relevant working experience.
Location
Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) with regular assignments (Europe and worldwide) offshore or in others Fugro offices.
