Job Summary:
The Data Engineer designs, builds and maintains data pipelines, integrations and data structures that support AI, machine learning, analytics and automation solutions. The role works with approved enterprise data platforms, including Databricks and Microsoft Fabric (medallion architecture), to ensure data is reliable, secure, well-governed and ready for approved technical and business use cases.
This is a 3-year fixed term contract for placement in Singapore, and only open to SG/PR candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Pipeline development
• Design, build and maintain data pipelines for AI, analytics and automation solutions.
• Ingest, transform and deliver data from enterprise systems, files, databases and approved platforms.
• Build repeatable ETL/ELT processes that are reliable, scalable and maintainable.
• Monitor pipeline performance and resolve data flow issues where required.
Data Integration & Platform Support
• Integrate data across Microsoft enterprise systems, cloud platforms and business applications.
• Support data movement between source systems, data platforms, AI environments and reporting tools.
• Develop connectors, APIs or data services where required to support solution delivery.
• Work with existing enterprise platforms; Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power Platform and related cloud services.
Data Quality & Modelling
• Implement monitoring, error handling, lineage, and auditability for data pipelines and datasets.
• Support data modelling for analytics, AI/ML and application use cases.
• Ensure datasets are accurate, consistent, documented and fit for intended use.
• Work with data owners and stakeholders to resolve data quality issues.
AI/ML Data Enablement
• Prepare and structure data for machine learning, model evaluation and AI solution development.
• Support feature engineering, training datasets, evaluation datasets and production data flows.
• Work with AI/ML Engineers to ensure models receive reliable and governed data inputs.
• Support ongoing data requirements for deployed AI and automation solutions.
Security, Governance & Documentation
• Apply access control, privacy, security and data governance requirements to data solutions.
• Document data flows, transformations, dependencies and known limitations.
• Maintain clear handover and support documentation for pipelines and integrations.
• Ensure data engineering work aligns with architectural and operational standards.
Requirements:
Education: Tertiary institution/ bachelor’s degree (IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Data/AI, or equivalent experience)
Working experience: 5+ years (Experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines or data integrations.)
• Strong SQL and Python/PySpark skills for data processing, transformation and automation.
• Experience supporting AI/ML, analytics or automation solutions with reliable data inputs.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data modelling, data quality and metadata management.
• Experience integrating data from enterprise systems, APIs, files and databases.
• Familiarity with security, privacy and data governance requirements.
• Experience working in agile or collaborative technical delivery environments.
• CI/CD and git-based deployment workflows
Management experience: 0-1 years Formal people management experience is not required. Exposure to collaborative projects and agile delivery.
Experience contributing to AI, analytics, automation or data platform initiatives through hands-on data engineering, integration and technical delivery. Technical skills and experience:
• Microsoft Fabric or Databricks with a medallion architecture
• SQL and Python/PySpark
• Knowledge of data practices (dimensional models, normalizing data, etc.)
• Knowledge of data platform design (federated versus centralized, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting skills with focus on root cause resolution.
• Microsoft certifications are a plus
• Experience with Copilot 365, Copilot Studio, Github Copilot, Azure data services
