Job Description
Lead and integrate application-driven technical leadership and operational execution for Nearshore Site Investigation (NSI), geophysics, and metocean across Latin America.
Operate focusing on translating technical strategy into deployable solutions, executable methodologies, and operational performance in nearshore markets.
The role is deeply anchored in LATAM nearshore applications (LNG, FLNG, desalination, offshore wind, coastal infrastructure) and is accountable for ensuring that Fugro’s technical differentiation results in safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery.
1. Strategic Alignment with NSI Service Line (Americas)
Act as the primary LATAM counterpart to the NSI Service Line
Ensure alignment between:
Global NSI strategy and LATAM execution capability
Technology deployment and asset strategy
Standards, methodologies, and workflows
Drive two-way integration:
Adapt global capabilities to regional conditions
Feed LATAM requirements and opportunities into global roadmap
Co-lead strategic bids and complex opportunities requiring service line involvement
2. Technical Leadership – Nearshore Applications Focus
Lead application-driven technical support for nearshore and marine projects
Maintain deep expertise in LATAM nearshore applications, including:
LNG and FLNG developments
Desalination intake/outfall systems
Offshore wind (fixed and floating)
Coastal and port infrastructure
Translate applications into:
Standardized investigation approaches
Execution methodologies
Scalable delivery frameworks
Provide senior technical authority in key client engagements and solution definition
3. Operational Leadership & Execution Accountability (NSI)
Own technical and operational readiness for NSI and integrated marine projects:
Resource planning (people, equipment, spreads, vessels as applicable)
Execution strategies and methodologies
Logistics and mobilization planning
Ensure alignment between as-bid and as-executed delivery
Act as regional authority on NSI execution methodology, in coordination with Service Line
Support resolution of technical and operational challenges during execution
4. Strategic Project Support & Opportunity Conversion
Play a leading role in winning complex and strategic nearshore opportunities
Support:
Solution definition
Technical differentiation
Execution planning and risk identification
Drive conversion of early-stage opportunities into:
Desktop studies
FEED and investigation campaigns
Ensure solutions are tailored to application-specific requirements and constraints
5. Integration with Commercial Excellence Framework
Support execution of Opening / Middle / Closing Game:
Opening: Position Fugro early as a technical advisor
Middle: Strengthen technical definition, feasibility, and differentiation
Closing: Support technical validation and de-risking of commitments
Work closely with:
Sales leadership
Proposals & Estimation Manager
Improve:
Win rates
Solution quality
Execution reliability
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Market Development
Establish high-level relationships with:
LNG / FLNG developers
Offshore wind developers
EPC contractors and coastal infrastructure players
Regulators and government agencies
Position Fugro as technical authority in nearshore investigations
Support development of:
Regulatory frameworks
Technical standards
Market entry strategies
Anticipate demand by tracking investment trends and translating into capability readiness
7. Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement
Drive Operational Excellence (OE) in NSI and nearshore operations:
Productivity improvements (drilling, field execution, marine integration)
Cost control and leakage reduction
Standardization and digital workflow adoption
Ensure consistent execution across countries
Improve predictability of project performance
8. Talent Development & Technical Capability Building
Mentor and develop technical and operations talent
Build a regional NSI / nearshore technical community
Promote knowledge sharing, training, and best practices
Support visibility through:
Conferences
Technical papers
Industry engagement
9. Innovation, Partnerships & Capability Expansion
Identify opportunities for:
Strategic partnerships
New technologies and solutions
R&D aligned with LATAM needs
Support introduction of new capabilities into LATAM
Align with global teams to accelerate adoption of innovations
L5: REQUIREMENTS
Education
Degree in Engineering, Geosciences, or related discipline
Advanced degree preferred
Experience
12–15+ years in geotechnical, geophysical, or marine services
Strong experience in:
Nearshore Site Investigation (NSI)
Marine and coastal environments
Proven track record in:
Operations and project execution
Technical leadership and client-facing roles
Multi-country environments
Languages: Fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese
Skills
Strong technical and operational credibility
Deep understanding of nearshore applications and markets
Commercial awareness and influence in bidding processes
Leadership in matrix organizations
