As part of our continued growth in Saudi Arabia, we are seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen our finance function and support business performance, compliance, and governance.
Role Purpose
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with IFRS, local statutory requirements, and Fugro finance standards. The role plays a critical part in month‑end close, financial analysis, audit coordination, and supporting management with timely and reliable financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month‑End Close
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies
Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including accruals, provisions, and cut‑off
Ensure accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger (GL)
Review and post complex journal entries
Core Accounting & Reconciliations
Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
Monitor and control intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Support cash flow monitoring and working capital management
Statutory, Tax & Compliance
Support VAT, Zakat, and statutory reporting in coordination with tax advisors
Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and internal controls
Act as a key contact for external and internal auditors, providing schedules and explanations
Reporting & Analysis
The Senior Accountant is expected to prepare, review, and analyze the following reports on a regular basis:
Monthly Profit & Loss Statement (P&L)
Balance Sheet and detailed reconciliations
Cash Flow Statement
Trial Balance
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Aging Reports
Accruals and Provisions Reports
Fixed Assets Register and Depreciation Report
Budget vs Actual and Variance Analysis Reports
Management Financial Reports for leadership review
Business Support & Continuous Improvement
Partner with operations and business teams to support financial decision‑making
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Mentor and guide junior accounting staff where applicable
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (minimum requirement)
Experience
6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a multinational or complex business environment
Strong exposure to financial reporting, GL ownership, and month‑end close
Experience working with ERP systems
Solid understanding of IFRS and financial controls
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Clear communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in MS Excel and financial reporting tools
Additional Requirements
Saudi nationals are strongly preferred, in line with localization requirements
Professional certification (SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage
Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage
