Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Summer Intern to join Fugro’s engineering team, working alongside the same group that hosts our Mechanical Engineering Interns. This role offers a hands‑on opportunity to gain practical electrical engineering experience within a busy, collaborative and technically diverse environment.
The Electrical Engineering Intern will support experienced engineers with day‑to‑day engineering activities while learning how electrical engineering is applied across Fugro’s subsea and offshore operations. This is a developmental role and does not carry commercial, project or supervisory accountability; instead, it focuses on learning, exposure and skill development through real work assignments.
You will be embedded within the engineering team, providing support across ongoing projects and gaining insight into how electrical systems, equipment and engineering processes contribute to the safe and successful delivery of Fugro’s subsea operations. Throughout the placement, you’ll be mentored by experienced engineers who will guide and support your development.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
Support electrical engineers with day‑to‑day engineering and project tasks
Assist with preparation and review of basic electrical drawings, documentation and reports
Gain exposure to electrical systems used in subsea, ROV and offshore operations
Support testing, inspection and troubleshooting activities under supervision
Assist with engineering data gathering, analysis and documentation control
Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines
Follow Fugro QHSSE standards and safe ways of working at all times
Participate in mentoring, feedback and learning activities to support development
What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role:
Currently working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline
A strong interest in electrical engineering and its practical application
Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem‑solving
Willingness to learn, ask questions and take guidance from experienced engineers
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
A proactive, positive attitude and enthusiasm for developing engineering skills
Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles gained through academic study
Desirable skills or an interest in:
Hardware design simulations [LTspice or similar]
PCB design [ KiCad Preferred].
Embedded systems software Design [ C , C++ , Arduino]
High level programming language [Python , C#]
