Job Description

Fugro is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to take ownership of the delivery of complex projects within our Positioning & Construction Support (PCS – Positioning and Construction Support) service line in Aberdeen. This is a project delivery role for an established professional who brings strong commercial acumen, sound judgement and the confidence to lead high‑value, risk‑managed projects in dynamic operational environments.

As a Project Manager, you will be fully accountable for project performance across safety, quality, commercial outcomes and client satisfaction. You will lead PCS projects from tender handover through mobilisation, execution and close‑out, acting as the primary authority for project decisions and the main interface with clients. Success in this role requires the ability to operate autonomously, manage complexity, and apply robust governance while maintaining a strong delivery focus.

This position is suited to an experienced Project Manager with a background in construction support, positioning, offshore, marine or technically complex project environments, who is comfortable holding responsibility for financial performance, risk ownership and senior client relationships.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assume full end‑to‑end accountability for the delivery of PCS projects, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, schedule, cost and client outcomes.

  • Act as the senior client representative for assigned projects, leading client engagement, managing expectations and resolving issues at an appropriate level.

  • Lead mobilisation, execution and demobilisation activities, ensuring projects are well planned, resourced and controlled.

  • Own and actively manage project risk, including QHSSE, commercial, contractual, technical and operational exposures.

  • Maintain full commercial responsibility, including project P&L ownership, forecasting, cost control, cash flow, invoicing and margin protection.

  • Identify, negotiate and manage changes in scope through formal Variation Order processes, ensuring commercial robustness and transparency.

  • Provide leadership to project teams and technical specialists, setting clear expectations and driving performance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure appropriate selection and deployment of equipment, methodologies and resources aligned to project risk and operational requirements.

  • Apply Fugro governance frameworks, approval authorities and project controls consistently and rigorously.

  • Monitor project performance, intervene decisively where needed, and implement corrective actions to protect delivery outcomes.

  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continuous improvement of PCS project delivery practices.

  • Act as a role model for project management discipline, professionalism and Fugro values.

What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role:

  • Extensive experience performing as a Project Manager with full lifecycle ownership of technically complex projects.

  • Strong background delivering projects within construction support, positioning, marine, offshore or similar operational environments.

  • Demonstrated experience managing project P&L, commercial risk, cost control and financial performance.

  • Proven ability to manage risk across QHSSE, contractual, technical and operational dimensions.

  • Confidence acting as the senior client interface and representing the business with credibility and authority.

  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong leadership, decision‑making and stakeholder management skills.

  • Comfortable working autonomously, managing ambiguity and making informed judgements under pressure.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools, particularly Excel, Word and Microsoft Project.

  • Experience operating within structured project governance frameworks.

  • A recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM PMQ, PMP or equivalent). Sufficient relevant experience can compensate for lack of qualification.
