Product Owner – Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)

Job Description

Join us in Nootdorp, the Netherlands, as our new Product Owner for our GNSS positioning SDK to strengthen the Satellite Positioning Innovation and Technology team. In this role you take end-to-end ownership of the software development kit that OEM partners embed in their own devices to obtain Fugro’s high-precision positioning. Fugro develops and operates its own GNSS augmentation services (satellite-positioning), which enhance standard GNSS signals for superior accuracy and reliability. Our services operate with a diverse OEM partner base, and the SDK is the product that makes it possible. You own its vision, roadmap, and backlog, and you are the person who decides how easy — or how hard — it is for a partner to integrate our technology into an embedded product.

This is a technically deep product role. You will work close to the code: C libraries and their public APIs, embedded targets, and the CI/CD pipelines that package and release the SDK. It is an ideal environment for a product person who is comfortable in a highly technical, engineering-driven context and enjoys turning complex positioning technology into a clean developer experience.

Your Role

• You own the product vision, roadmap, and a well-prioritised backlog for the GNSS positioning SDK delivered to OEM partners;

• You gather requirements from OEM integrators, internal engineering, and commercial stakeholders, and translate them into work packages, milestones, and user stories;

• You align the SDK’s technical direction with commercial objectives in collaboration with Brand Managers, and co-develop business cases and supporting justification;

• You refine and oversee the implementation of backlog items with the development team in an Agile environment;

• You take ownership of technical project progress within Fugro’s technology framework, managing risk, budget, scope, and stakeholder expectations;

• You define and own an engineering support system and process that collects and classifies incoming OEM requests, datasets and (where possible) automates triage and resolution;

• You coordinate technical support for the SDK, assisting internal teams and OEM partners with integration and product-related inquiries.

Your Track Record

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Navigation Technology, Geodesy, or a related discipline;

• You bring around 3–6 years of experience in a product owner, technical product, or closely related engineering role, ideally in a software development and/or satellite navigation context;

• You have hands-on familiarity with embedded systems and the constraints of running software on target hardware;

• You understand C libraries and their public APIs — how a good SDK interface is designed, versioned, documented, and consumed by third-party integrators;

• You are comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and the mechanics of building, packaging, and releasing software libraries across platforms;

• You have a feel for developer experience — what makes an SDK pleasant to integrate versus painful, and why clear API contracts and documentation matter;

• Knowledge of GNSS / high-precision positioning is a strong plus; you don’t need to be a positioning-algorithm specialist, but you should be able to reason about the product at a technical level;

• You communicate fluently in English, both technically and non-technically, and collaborate effectively across functions and organisational levels.
