The role

Fugro is excited to announce the opening of a Proposal Manager / Estimator to join our dynamic Marine Installation Systems team based in Falmouth, Cornwall.  This rewarding role involves reviewing and understanding potential clients' ITT/RFQ requirements to prepare comprehensive proposals and pricing submissions within the specified timeframes. As a Proposal Manager, you will play a crucial role in attracting new clients, engaging with existing ones, and supporting the business in securing projects for profitable growth. Additionally, you will prepare proposal handover packages to facilitate meetings with the project delivery team and engage with a network of known and new clients throughout the proposal process.

In this engaging role, you will act as a key point of contact for Marine Installation Systems both within and outside the Fugro group. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire proposal process, including all technical, commercial, and contractual aspects, with support from team members. Your duties will include conducting commercial, technical, and operational bid reviews, and using your in-depth knowledge of the construction, marine construction, and marine engineering markets to develop a business strategy and produce detailed, concise proposals based on contract conditions.

You will prepare prices based on market intelligence, business strategy, and the collation of proposal submission data, ensuring each bid is thoroughly reviewed before submission. Additionally, you will prepare bid/no bid analyses for review and approval by the line manager. Your role will also involve commercial and technical negotiations with clients to secure contract awards, attending and conducting client meetings (via Skype or in person, both in the UK and overseas), and engaging with subcontractors and suppliers during the proposal process to ensure the best value and technical solutions are achieved. Producing cashflow forecasts as part of the commercial evaluation will also be a key responsibility.

Oversee the proposal process, including all technical, commercial, and contractual aspects.

Conduct commercial, technical, and operational bid reviews.

Develop a business strategy and produce detailed, concise proposals based on contract conditions.

Who we’re looking for:

We are seeking an exceptional candidate with a background in Marine, Renewable, or Civil Engineering applications who is highly motivated and self-driven. The ideal candidate will possess excellent time management skills, enabling them to meet both internal and external deadlines efficiently. They should be articulate with outstanding interpersonal skills, allowing them to communicate effectively and build strong relationships. Astute commercial awareness is essential, as is the ability to solve problems resourcefully. A high level of competency in writing and communicating technical proposals is required, along with excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

Key Attributes:

Background: Experience of a commercial role Sales, Business development, tender writing, proposal management, Bid Management in Marine, Renewable, or Civil Engineering or construction applications.

Motivation: Highly Motivated and Self Driven

Time Management: Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines efficiently.

Interpersonal Skills: Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities.

Commercial Awareness: Astute commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
