Job Purpose:

Ensures operations are aligned with company and/or manufacturers standards and procedures by 1) managing all maintenance/workshop activities, resources and personnel, 2) being responsible for safety and quality, solving equipment failures, project planning, resources, budget,  developing departmental plans and procedures, 3) carrying out staff development, performance appraisal and training requirements duties and, 4) working with R&D on development of new equipment and maintenance of existing equipment.  Key contacts include R&D. Manages supervisors at the workplace, with people management being a main task of this position.  Has higher professional (HBO) or academic education (WO) or equivalent or higher professional and intellectual capacities and relevant technical education.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage a team of mechanics, welders, electricians, and storekeepers.

- Maintain and update various workshop and warehouse procedures.

- Ensure safety compliance in the workshop and warehouse.

- Facilitate training and development for the workshop and warehouse team.

- Oversee all repair and maintenance activities for equipment.

- Prepare and maintain records of equipment fault reports, job cards, and mobilization checklists.

- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.

- Prepare budgets for equipment maintenance.

- Initiate capital expenditures (CAPEX) for assets, anticipating current and future requirements.

- Manage the entire inventory with assistance from the storekeeper.

- Define threshold quantities for critical items and raise purchase requisitions in the ERP system accordingly.

- Utilize ERP software to respond to asset and material demands from various projects, and process goods receipt notes (GRNs) for materials received into warehouse stock.

- Ensure permits to work are in place, where applicable, during workshop activities.

- Oversee waste segregation and management.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of proven experience.

Responsible for ensuring safety of self and others at site. Prevent damage of equipment and assets Responsible for following all safety signs/procedures/ safe working practices Responsible for using appropriate PPE’s Responsible for participating in mock drills. Entitled to refuse any to undertake any activity considered unsafe. Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever hazard has been noticed at site. Responsible for safe housekeeping of his work place. To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe To be able to operate fire extinguisher in case of fire To report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager To complete HSE trainings as instructed to do so.
