Job Summary

The Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) business line is at the forefront of changing how we revolutionise offshore inspection and monitoring (I&M) and Positioning and Construction Support (PCS) solutions for the energy and water industries to meet our carbon neutral future. Our commitment spans both traditional and renewable energy sectors, as well as coastal resilience and metocean science. We are experiencing a remarkable transformation in technology, propelling us towards a future where we operate as an asset-light, remotely controlled leader in asset integrity. By leveraging our remote operating center, we are pioneering innovative I&M and PCS services, setting new standards for excellence and efficiency in the industry. Together, we are shaping a resilient and sustainable future.

With a main seat in Singapore, this Business Line has other significant locations in the Asia Pacific Region, leading over 400 professionals.

This is a pivotal leadership role within the organisation, integral to the Regional Management Team (RLT) and global MAI leadership team.

For the MAI Business Line in Asia, we are looking for a Regional Business Line Director (RBLD) with:

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and the Region, engage with clients, and represent the company at industry events.

  • Client Relationship Management, including client-centric outside-in leadership.

  • Industry Knowledge: Understands the existing regional market and competitive trends, can develop new business, generate leads, manage leads into contracts, successfully execute the work and drive operational excellence and digital transformation of the business line.

  • Financial Acumen: Will be responsible for maximizing the overall performance of the business line in the region and be accountable for achieving the agreed yearly revenue and profit targets of the business line in the region, while considering the region’s overall profitability. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to drive business growth and profitability.

  • Strategic Vision: Understands the potential in new market segments and can develop and execute the short- and medium-term strategy of the business line and associated service lines and is an effective communicator and ambassador in bringing stakeholders along.

  • Values, standards and regulatory compliance: Will ensure that we deliver our products and services safely and with Fugro’s values in mind. Compounding the afore mentioned with knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring all operations comply with relevant laws and guidelines

  • Innovation and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt to new technologies and methodologies, particularly in remote operations and digital solutions

We are looking for a result-orientated Leader with proven ability to deliver, combined with a track record in asset integrity management and influencing clients towards new solutions. Essential in this is creating long-term value for the company by identifying new strategies and solutions, based on market insights and new technologies/digital solutions that create true value for our clients. This requires deep understanding of client challenges and technological applications. By leveraging these insights, you will help drive innovation and set new benchmarks for excellence.

As the RBLD, MAI, you will help shape our future and lead the way for the company. It is an exciting position, offering you the chance to make impact on a regional scale in key future areas, together with a diverse and international team.  The successful candidate will have leadership experience and will grow our Region and guide it to continued success. You will elevate our business by transforming client relationships into a long-term asset integrity portfolio.

In the role, you will report hierarchically to the Group Director Asia Pacific (a Member of the Executive Leadership Team) and functionally to the Global Business Line Director MAI, where you will form part of a Global MAI team who drive continual improvement to bring best Practice to your Region and other Regions. You will work closely with the Global and Regional MAI teams and you will empower the regional business partners in the functions (Finance, HR, Strategic Sales and Marketing, Project Management and Operational Excellence, Legal, HSSE) and other leaders that are helping to shape our business.

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience including leading a multicultural distributed team: 15+ years of experience, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership position.

  • Customer-Centric Approach: Strong focus on customer satisfaction and a growth mindset.

  • Relevant Industry Experience: Expertise in Asset Integrity within the Energy or Renewables sector.

  • Strategic and Commercial Background: Proven experience in strategy development, commercial roles, and project management.

  • Client Network and Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain a robust client network and effectively engage and influence stakeholders with compelling narratives.

  • Analytical and Financial Skills: Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in financial modeling.

  • Change Management: Proven change agent with ability to drive transformation.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of industry regulations and standards.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Innovation and Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

  • Advanced Degree: A master’s degree in a relevant field such as marine engineering, business administration, or a related discipline.

  • Remote Operations Experience and Technical Expertise: Solid technical background in marine engineering, coastal resilience, metocean science, and remote operations.

  • Integrity Engineering: Experience in ‘integrity engineering’ would be beneficial

  • Project Management Certification: Certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar.

  • Sustainability Focus: Experience with sustainability initiatives and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

  • Cultural Competence: Ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings.

  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with the latest software and tools used in marine asset integrity and remote operations.
