This is an opportunity to apply your scientific expertise while influencing how forecasting services are delivered, improved and evolved across the business. If you are passionate about operational meteorology, enjoy working in a collaborative global environment and are motivated by delivering real world impact, we would love to hear from you.
Your role and responsibilities:

Act as the technical escalation point for complex forecasting situations, ensuring clear guidance and sound operational recommendations.
Maintain effective communication with clients, project teams and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment collaboration and timely information sharing.
Serve as the primary interface between the UK forecasting team and Fugro’s global weather forecasting hub in the APAC region, ensuring effective communication, handovers and aligned ways of working.
Support the development of UK-based forecasters through mentoring, onboarding, knowledge sharing and quality-focused feedback.
Contribute to continuous improvement of forecasting methods, workflows, reporting and client service delivery.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role:
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of technical forecasting expertise, operational awareness and strong leadership skills.
Essential
Master’s degree in meteorology or a related scientific discipline.
Significant experience in operational weather forecasting, ideally supporting offshore, marine or energy related operations.
Advanced knowledge of meteorological forecasting principles, numerical weather prediction models and observational data interpretation.
Proven ability to analyse complex weather and metocean conditions and translate findings into practical operational advice.
Experience supporting time critical operational decision making in a high-pressure environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise briefings to clients and operational teams.
Experience coordinating teams, workloads or operational activities.
Ability to act as a technical escalation point and provide guidance on complex forecasting issues.
Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Desirable

Experience working within a global or geographically distributed team environment.
Familiarity with forecasting quality systems, operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience onboarding, mentoring or coaching colleagues.
Understanding of commercial processes including time recording, budgeting or client reporting.
What We’re Looking For
A collaborative and proactive leader who enjoys supporting and developing others.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, particularly in situations where precedent may not exist.
A customer focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high quality services.
The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients and global stakeholders.
A continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for enhancing forecasting practices, tools and ways of working
