At Fugro, we unlock insights from the Earth to help build a safer, more sustainable world. As a Goods-In Assistant based at our Wallingford office, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the movement, storage and management of samples, materials and equipment that underpin our geotechnical investigations and client projects. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll help ensure laboratory operations run smoothly by maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating deliveries and supporting logistics activities. This is a hands-on, site-based role where your contribution directly supports the delivery of high-quality data and insights for projects around the world. While standard working hours apply, occasional shift or weekend working may be required to support operational needs.
Your role and responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, process and accurately record incoming goods, materials and samples, ensuring compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
Support the safe storage, handling and dispatch of samples, equipment and materials to clients, vessels, laboratories and other Fugro locations.
Maintain inventory accuracy through stock control systems, routine checks and timely updates to relevant records and documentation.
Assist with sample management activities, including sorting, packaging, transfer, storage and disposal processes.
Work closely with laboratory teams, couriers and site personnel to coordinate logistics and ensure materials are available when needed.
Help maintain a safe, organised and efficient warehouse environment, adhering to Fugro’s Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE) standards.
Support the resolution of inventory, shipment or delivery discrepancies while communicating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role:
Strong attention to detail, organisation skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Good verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working within a team environment.
Basic computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to follow procedures, prioritise tasks and work effectively to deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Ability to undertake the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling and being on your feet for extended periods.
A full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: Previous experience in a regulated environment and/or a forklift truck licence.
