Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Fugro
Location: UK (onshore & nearshore project sites with flexible/office-based working)
Working pattern: Full-time, 40 hours per week with flexible/hybrid elements and site travel on occasion.

Working across diverse infrastructure and energy projects, you’ll help deliver high-quality ground investigation data that directly supports critical decisions. Reporting to a Team Leader/Principal Engineer, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, supportive environment that blends site work with office-based reporting. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where your expertise will shape real-world outcomes while helping develop the next generation of engineers. Your role and responsibilities
Expectations & Deliverables:
Deliver safe, high-quality geotechnical site investigations and reporting in line with Fugro’s standards and international standards.
Produce accurate, timely field and laboratory reports that support clear, confident client decision-making
Responsibilities:
Plan, supervise, and manage onshore and nearshore ground investigations, including data capture and reporting.
Prepare and coordinate laboratory testing programmes, ensuring appropriate standards (e.g. BS1377) are applied.
Interpret geotechnical data and contribute to the preparation of technical reports and deliverables
Collaborate with internal specialists (geophysics, drilling, monitoring, and laboratories) to deliver integrated project outcomes.
Maintain clear communication with site teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Support, mentor, and guide graduate and junior engineers, contributing to their professional development
Act as a site lead or project lead when required, overseeing engineering teams on both onshore and offshore.
What you’ll need to thrive in this role
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
Demonstrated experience in geotechnical ground investigations and reporting
Solid experience in geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation, and reporting
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
A Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally Europe for site work
