At Fugro, we’re passionate about unlocking insights from the ground to create a safer, more sustainable world and as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in making that happen. Working across diverse infrastructure and energy projects, you’ll help deliver high-quality ground investigation data that directly supports critical decisions. Reporting to a Team Leader/Principal Engineer, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic, supportive environment that blends site work with office-based reporting. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where your expertise will shape real-world outcomes while helping develop the next generation of engineers. If you’re ready to take ownership, grow your career, and make a meaningful impact, we’d love you on the team.

Your role and responsibilities

Expectations & Deliverables:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality geotechnical site investigations and reporting in line with Fugro’s standards and international standards.

  • Produce accurate, timely field and laboratory reports that support clear, confident client decision-making

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise, and manage onshore and nearshore ground investigations, including data capture and reporting.

  • Prepare and coordinate laboratory testing programmes, ensuring appropriate standards (e.g. BS1377) are applied.

  • Interpret geotechnical data and contribute to the preparation of technical reports and deliverables

  • Collaborate with internal specialists (geophysics, drilling, monitoring, and laboratories) to deliver integrated project outcomes.

  • Maintain clear communication with site teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Support, mentor, and guide graduate and junior engineers, contributing to their professional development

  • Act as a site lead or project lead when required, overseeing engineering teams on both onshore and offshore.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical ground investigations and reporting

  • Solid experience in geotechnical site investigations, data interpretation, and reporting

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines

  • A Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally Europe for site work
