Job Description

As Application Portfolio Manager you play a pivotal role in shaping Fugro’s global application landscape. You bring clarity, ownership, and governance to a complex environment, ensuring that every application delivers measurable business value. You operate between strategic direcion and executional goveranance between IT and the business, with a strong focus on enterprise‑wide structure, coherence, and long‑term direction rather than technical or infrastructure detail. By driving lifecycle management, rationalisation, and strategic alignment, you strengthen operational resilience, reduce technical debt, and enable informed decision‑making across the organisation. This is your opportunity to influence strategy at the intersection of business, IT, and architecture — and to create a portfolio that is transparent, future‑proof, and value‑driven.

Your role

  • You own and evolve the application portfolio framework, policies, and governance to ensure consistent lifecycle management and decision‑making;

  • You establish and govern the decision-making framework for the application portfolio, ensuring that lifecycle, investment, risk, and rationalisation decisions are not only prepared but also adopted, tracked, and embedded in execution

  • You shape the IT strategic plan for your functional domain and ensure alignment with business strategy, roadmaps, and budget cycles;

  • You maintain full transparency of cost, value, risk, lifecycle status, and technical health across the application portfolio;

  • You guide and prepare Tolerate, Invest, Migrate, and Eliminate decisions, actively reducing technical debt and systemic risk;

  • You align application investments with functional and enterprise strategy by assessing strategic fit, overlap, and dependencies;

  • You drive demand shaping and prioritisation, owning portfolio KPIs and health metrics to support balanced decision‑making;

  • You follow up on lifecycle actions, migrations, and eliminations to ensure decisions are executed and data remains complete and accurate;

  • You deliver clear portfolio insights, trends, and scenario analyses to senior leadership and governance bodies, positioning yourself as the strategic connector between business priorities and enterprise IT.

Your track record

  • You bring a master’s degree in information systems, business administration, or equivalent experience;

  • You have 10+ years of experience in complex global IT environments, with at least 7 years in application portfolio management or related disciplines;

  • You have worked with large, diverse application landscapes across multiple business domains or global functions;

  • You demonstrate the ability to support senior leaders with data‑driven insights and portfolio recommendations;

  • You understand application lifecycle management, enterprise architecture principles, and APM tooling, with a clear focus on enterprise-level structure rather than deep technical specialisation;

  • You translate cost, value, and risk data into clear, actionable insights that drive strategic decisions;

  • You are an excellent enterprise partner who can challenge and align senior stakeholders across business, IT, architecture, and the business functions, and who can build portfolio discipline in an environment where governance maturity is still developing.

What Fugro offers

  • A gross monthly salary between €6100 and €6900, depending on your relevant experience. This amount falls within our salary range and offers opportunities for growth within the role;

  • 29 holidays per year based on a fulltime employment (of which 4 are appointed by Fugro management) and the possibility to purchase 12 additional days;

  • Extensive career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally;

  • Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home in accordance with your manager and corporate policies;

  • Commuting allowance;

  • Modern pension scheme;

  • Collective health insurance;

  • Possibility to register with our corporate fitness plan;

  • Coaching options through our EAP (Employee Assistance Program).
