Job Description

Project Manager Lead

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager Lead to support and strengthen our Metocean projects and project management community. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers, technical experts, and operational teams to ensure Metocean projects are well planned, well resourced, and delivered with high quality.

You will not be expected to run every project yourself, but to provide oversight, guidance, and support Project Managers in navigating complexity related to weather, marine operations, modelling, data delivery, and client requirements. The role combines people leadership, portfolio oversight, and continuous improvement.

Metocean projects often carry significant cost and risk exposure, particularly due to lump sum delivery models, vessel chartering, and strong weather dependency. A key aspect of the role is therefore to promote thorough upfront planning and operational readiness, including anticipating and mitigating risks related to spare parts, documentation, permits, logistics, resourcing, and technical configuration ahead of offshore execution.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide a consolidated, risk‑focused overview of project delivery across the portfolio and escalate matters requiring leadership support

  • Enable early warning, prioritisation, and predictable client delivery through clear and timely reporting

  • Report on project financial status, including budget, forecast, and WIP

  • Monitor delivery performance, QHSE matters, and technical or data‑related risks that may impact quality or contractual compliance

  • Lead and support the Metocean Project Management team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment

  • Maintain an overview of project resourcing and workload, ensuring the right capabilities are assigned at the right time

  • Act as a sounding board for Project Managers on delivery strategy, planning, and risk management related to Metocean projects and offshore operations

Who you are

  • You enjoy helping others succeed and are comfortable guiding Project Managers through complex delivery situations

  • You understand the realities of Metocean project delivery, including uncertainty, interdependencies, data‑driven decision‑making, and client‑specific requirements

  • You are structured, calm under pressure, and able to see the bigger picture across multiple projects

  • You communicate clearly and effectively with both technical specialists and non‑technical stakeholders

  • You are able to communicate fluently in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken

Experience and background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, oceanography, meteorology, geoscience, or a related discipline

  • Several years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably within Metocean, oceanography, offshore energy, renewables, or related marine disciplines

  • Proven experience supporting or leading Project Managers, project teams, or technical professionals

  • Strong understanding of project risk, delivery models, and performance follow‑up

  • Familiarity with Metocean data, instrumentation, modelling, or studies is a strong advantage

  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar) is beneficial, but not required

What we offer

  • An international working environment

  • Flexible working hours

  • Subsidised canteen

  • On‑site parking

  • In‑house exercise room

  • Covered mobile phone and internet expenses

  • Secure bike parking and wardrobe/shower facilities

  • Excellent pension and insurance schemes
