We have two state-of-the-art training facilities, located at Plymouth, UK, and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. Together, they provide internal and external training for surveys and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
We created the Fugro Academy in 2006 as a global, group-wide, standardised training initiative to support recruitment and staff development. It provides office-based and field staff with instructor-led practical courses and online, hosted e-learning modules on a variety of technical, HSE (health, safety and environment) and business-related topics.

Fugro Academy Training Centre – Abu Dhabi, UAE
Our purpose-built centre in Abu Dhabi delivers our four-week ROV training course, which is designed to produce professional personnel with a high degree of competency. On the course, you’ll experience a combination of hands-on experience and structured studies designed to equip you with the ROV skills you need for working offshore.
The centre has more than 25,000 m² of yard space and an adjacent quayside that will give you contact with vessels as well as mobilisation and ROV maintenance activities. You’ll make good use of the centre’s facilities, which include a state-of-the-art ROV simulator and workshops for fibre-optics and hydraulics training – perfect for helping you to master specific maintenance and repairs techniques.
Having completed our ROV training course, you’ll need to do your survival training and obtain relevant medical certificates, and then you’ll be ready to work offshore.
