Job Description

The CMET Project Manager is responsible for supervising engineering technicians and managing Construction Material Engineering and Testing projects. This individual will also be responsible for business development efforts for CMET services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Train, coordinate, and manage engineering field technicians.
  • Administer performance appraisals.
  • Devise and implement (with approval) new CMET reporting forms consistent with computer / word processing capabilities.
  • Organize and review test and inspection reports.
  • Prepare proposals for CMET projects.
  • Procure equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain an inventory of all laboratory and field equipment in working condition.
  • Maintain calibration of all field and laboratory equipment.
  • Follow QMS procedures and implement where required.
  • Update and maintain all training records for all the technicians.
  • Be responsible for invoicing and invoice collection.
  • Manage progress of CMET projects.
  • Establish new client base.
  • Maintain existing clients.
  • Assist the Division Manager in Updating and expanding the capabilities of material testing department.
  • Assist the Division Manager in improving professional image.
  • Familiar with HSE and QMS requirements and able to implement as applicable.
  • Familiar with TxDOT requirements and procedures.
  • Capable in handling internal and external QMS and HSE auditors for laboratory inspections.
  • Act as a consultant to clients in the use of new materials for construction and in the forensics of construction problems related to materials or techniques utilized.
  • Serve as in-house consultant in use of construction materials and accuracy of test results, and implementation of research data.

Job Requirements:                                  

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions
  • Currently hold or can obtain a valid US Passport
  • Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in related field is strongly preferred; Master’s degree from accredited college or university in related field is preferred.
  • NICET certification strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment, as well as filing systems and business letter writing and competent in correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable project management experience necessary; management of CMET projects required
  • Familiarity with various ASTM standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction materials testing procedures.
