Job Description

Here at Fugro, we conduct seabed mapping from the coastline and hazardous shallow water to full ocean depths using a suite of hydrographic surveying technologies, including satellite imagery, airborne lidar bathymetry (ALB), and acoustic sensors. Our advanced technologies can be used independently or combined based on your project requirements and are operated by our global network of qualified hydrographic surveyors. Supporting nautical charting, cable route surveys, and coastal zone management, our surveys accelerate the acquisition of high-quality hydrographic data.

The Senior Data Processor will be responsible for the processing and QC of hydrographic data which includes but is not limited to the following: multibeam bathymetry, multibeam backscatter, sidescan sonar, positioning data (including POS M/V and POS A/V), LiDAR (including Photo Mosaics and Reflectance), charting (AutoCAD and ArcPro). They will assist the Delivery Excellence Manager with coordination and submission of data deliverables to meet client requirements as well as report writing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.

  • Accurately compile and process survey data, including position, tide, multibeam, single beam, side scan sonar and LIDAR bathymetry and sensor information as per client requirements or Fugro standards.

  • Analyze and process data using project specified software packages such as QPS Qimera, CARIS, Sonar Wiz, Global Mapper, and similar packages.

  • Assist with the management of data on AWS and company servers including handover from field crews and preparation for archive.

  • Assist with the maintenance of accurate version control of all products, or create version control where absent, for both paper and digital outputs.

  • Accurately document all data processing actions including filter settings, bin sizes and radii.

  • Create and review charts, data sets and report products for accuracy and adherence to ISO standards as well as client requirements and Fugro standards

  • Prepare or edit survey reports and provide proposal support as required.

  • Create procedures or work instructions where absent.

  • Assist with monitoring and controlling software versions and license keys. Liaise with software vendors with problems encountered and license renewals.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • Possess a Bachelors in Data Management, Geomatic Engineering, or Earth Science.

  • Have 5 or more years of experience in Data Processing and QC of hydrographic data.

  • Must be proficient with spatial data processing and mapping software, such as geographic conversion software; AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; ArcGIS.

  • Must be proficient with hydrographic data processing and analysis software, such as CARIS HIPS/SIPS, QPS Qimera and FMGT, SonarWiz and Global Mapper.

  • Must be proficient with GPS processing software, such as PosPAC.

  • Have basic knowledge of computer hardware components and cloud-based processing.
