APAC Business Development Manager – Coastal Resilience

Are you an analytical mind with a hunger for identifying and pursuing new opportunities? We're seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager for our APAC head office in Singapore to spearhead our ground breaking initiatives in Climate & Nature, specifically Geo-data solutions in coastal resilience.

Fugro leverages unique combined land and marine Geo-data expertise, network, and partners to deliver fit-for-purpose insights, driving continuous large-scale climate risk mitigation programmes. Fugro consults clients to map the baseline, model the risks & monitor the changes in a range of different environments across land, coastlines and oceans.

Your role will be key in expanding our regional footprint within the climate and nature sector, taking the lead in key priority markets including (coastal) flood risk and protection, nature-based solutions, ecosystem conservation and restoration. As the driving force behind our Climate and Nature initiatives, your task will encompass shaping strategies and leading their development within our APAC Strategic Sales & Marketing team. You will also contribute to the overall growth strategy of the company via your participation in the cross-regional Climate & Nature team. You demonstrate ambition and energy to expand into new markets and client types, this will involve 30-50% regional traveling.

Your comprehensive understanding of diverse markets, coupled with your vigilance in tracking industry trends, regulations, and emerging prospects, sets you apart. You have exceptional business development, client management skills and an understanding of the Geo-data value chain in Climate & Nature programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the APAC region, with a focus on climate-related services.

  • Understand and navigate the entire value chain, from mapping the baseline to modelling vulnerability monitoring change, providing decision support tools, and offering geo-data consultancy services.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure the seamless execution of projects and delivery of high-quality solutions to clients.

  • Maintain a pragmatic and client-focused approach, ensuring customer satisfaction and building long-term relationships.

  • Possess a deep understanding of the APAC market, staying abreast of industry trends, regulations, and emerging opportunities.

  • Demonstrate ambition and energy to expand into new markets, contributing to the overall growth strategy of the company.

Experience:

  • Master’s degree and proven experience in a relevant field.

  • Proven track record (>5 years) in business development within the geo-data or ecosystems services industry, with a focus on climate-related services in the APAC, with ability to navigate complex stakeholder networks.

  • Strong network in the public sector. A network in the green financial and/or insurance sector is a plus.

  • Prior experience in climate resilience initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of geo-data and its applications in Climate & Nature markets.

  • Exceptional business development and client management skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Capable of thought leadership and enhancing the Fugro brand.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical mindset with hunger for identifying and pursuing new opportunities.

  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with carbon markets, nature-based solutions and marine spatial planning, and experience in related projects.

  • Knowledge of the broader climate and nature sectors.

  • Understanding of the Geo-data value chain (map-model-monitor).

  • Background in consultancy.
