Job Description

Laboratory Engineer

To assist laboratory manager in their duties. To oversee all areas of laboratory testing quality  system including compliance with ISO 17025, adhering to procedures and standards. Be responsible for equipment calibration/ validation internal and external, quality assurance and quality control of testing, evaluation of test results and test sheets. Supervise train personnel to conduct internal audits, participate in approving test method, test forms and processing data sheets

Job responsibilities:

  • Maintain, monitor and apply procedures for accredited tasks, define methods and criteria for statistical analysis of test results

  • Perform internal calibrations, write calibration methods and update calibration records

  • Monitor and validation of equipment’s

  • Maintain records of equipment and supplies

  • Set criteria for purchase and calibrations.

  • Approve calibration methods and evaluate calibrations results

  • Monitor audit schedule, perform internal audits, maintain training records

  • Quality control of test results: data entry of quality control testing, organising inter- and intra-laboratory comparisons, analyse results

  • Ensure laboratory maintains EIAC/ENAS accreditation and adhere to technical requirements in line with Fugro procedures and external accreditations

You bring (qualifications & experience)

  • ​​Bachelor or equivalent level in Engineering or mathematical discipline, or equivalent in experience​

  • Previous experience of working in a geotechnical or construction materials laboratory and performing tests (Essential) – atleast 4-8 years.

  • Previous experience in ISO17025 laboratory quality management systems (Desirable).

  • Excellent numeracy and literacy

  • Working knowledge of maths; algebra, statistics, functions, geometry

  • Eye for detail, diligent in following procedures

  • Manage large data input, skilled in reviewing and correcting data

  • Proficient in use of MS Office applications
