Job Description

For our head office in Leidschendam, we are looking for a Controller Consolidation and Reporting with a particular focus on internal control. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting and the effectiveness of our internal control environment for our Group Accounting and Reporting team. You interact with the various topic experts within Group Control, Internal Audit, Corporate Finance, Finance Shared Service Centres, Treasury and Tax, as well as with controllers within the business units and other business- or group level stakeholders.

You contribute to the design, development, and documentation of appropriate internal controls over financial- and non-financial reporting, including identification of automated controls, establishing new controls and/or updates to existing controls in line with best practices. As well as assisting with developing the internal control function and knowledge across the regions and Finance Shared Services Centres, by designing and delivering best practice control training, creating guidance on how to operate effective controls, and creating templates for business to use in their controls processes.

You combine accounting and reporting knowledge with a sound understanding of financial processes and reporting IT systems. You demonstrate unquestionable integrity and professionalism and value the fun factor in work.

Your role

  • You take part in the consolidation and reporting of all Fugro financial entities and produce IFRS compliant information for external reporting of Fugro Group;

  • You analyse financial figures, coordinate reporting processes, identify data irregularities or data quality issues, and ensure corrective actions are taken in order to maintain the integrity of financial data;

  • You drive continuous improvements in our reporting and consolidation process including our consolidation tool (CCH Tagetik);

  • You support the development and manage the process of quarterly validation and reporting on the design and operation effectiveness of internal control;

  • You review, assess, evaluate and conclude on the nature of control deficiencies, adequacy of remediation plans and/or compensating controls where applicable;

  • You support development of remediation plans where applicable, follow-up on action items, and provide updates to internal- and external audit.

  • You participate in in-depth topic reviews and ad-hoc projects, which (amongst others) include IFRS 16 lease accounting, FX-exposure, and ESG reporting (CSRD, ESRS and EU Taxonomy).

Your track record

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferably supplemented with RA, CA or ACCA;

  • You have 5+ years’ experience in audit gained within a Big4 audit firm or as a (financial) controller within an international organisation at group level;

  • You have extensive Excel knowledge and the drive to learn new data driven systems and applications. Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus;

  • You have knowledge of corporate governance requirements for large global organisations, including extensive knowledge of strategy, risk and opportunity assessment, control design and testing and reporting approaches;

  • You have experience in driving controls remediation programs and designing effective good practice controls and have good knowledge of, and demonstrable experience with applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);

  • You are fluent in English both written and spoken.
