Job Description
The Technical Lead will be responsible to provide subject matter expertise, technical support, training and mobilization supervision for MSC geophysical survey operations.
Job Responsibilities
Ensures all onshore and offshore activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.
Creates and updates relevant training material or procedures for field staff.
Delivers training and instruction related to the course material created, both in house and remotely.
Establishes a baseline for technical competency levels and tracks respective competencies for assigned field staff.
Provides technical support for all navigation related issues.
Supervises mobilization of navigation systems aboard Fugro managed vessels.
Ensures all navigation related system calibrations and validations are carried out and documented according to Fugro Standards.
Acts as team leader on certain projects or mobilizations; provides mentorship and training to surveyors.
Maintains effective communication with Client Representatives, Project Managers and other onshore and offshore departments.
Drive vehicles to and from office locations, docks, heliports.
Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
•Performs other duties or completes special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions. Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel
Must be able to obtain and maintain all credentials for offshore work such as TWIC, passport, water survival, and OGUK certification for offshore work required.
Possess an Associate degree in Geomatics, Surveying/Survey Technology, or similar field
Have 5 years or more experience in a senior or lead surveyor capacity. Including experience with USBL mobilizations, calibrations, and validations
Have experience with INS (Seapath380, Applanix POSMV), and multibeam echosounder.
General understanding of seismic and conventional geophysical acquisition methods.
Strong background in Microsoft Office and basic networking skills
Preferred
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics
Have 5 or more years in a leadership role related to offshore surveying/similar industry.
Land survey background with experience in total stations, static GPS surveys, and dimensional control.
Military experience
